What languages are supported?

Do I need Apple Silicon?
Yes. Diktator requires M1, M2, M3, or M4 chips for MLX Whisper acceleration. Intel Macs are not supported. The Neural Engine provides 10x faster transcription compared to CPU-only solutions.
What is Ollama and do I need it?
Ollama is optional local AI for cleaning up transcription (fixing punctuation, grammar, formatting). Diktator works perfectly without it. If you want AI cleanup, install Ollama separately (free, open source).
macOS says it can't verify the app
Right-click the app → select "Open" → click Open in the dialog. This bypasses Gatekeeper for apps not yet notarized with Apple ($99/yr program). You only need to do this once. The app makes zero network connections — verify yourself with Little Snitch or tcpdump.
